We were excited to have some of our friends at Red Balloon join us for a Taste of Italy cooking class recently. Here’s what they said:
“When I was given the opportunity to try out an Italian Cooking Class, I admit I had mixed feelings. My first thought was pure joy! I love Italian food… the taste, the smells, the glass of wine that accompanies the meal… but I must admit I had a little fear. I am the sort of person who cannot tell the difference between garlic and ginger unless it is in a well-labelled jar and I was about to embark on this cooking class with a colleague who I would have to see again after the class!
My fears were very quickly relieved however when I entered the class. We were greeted by the most friendly staff and given a glass of wine to enjoy with a selection of canapés before the class started. This was a great way to meet my fellow chefs.
Our fabulous teachers ran us through how the class would work, showed us a few tricks like how to cut an onion the fast an easy way (the class is worth it for this alone!) and then we went through our ingredients in a ‘Masterchef style’ guessing competition. After learning how to use these fresh ingredients, we managed to whip up a stunning entre and main meal that we shared with our fellow chefs later in the night.
The Italian Cooking class is a fun way to learn to cook, by combining fabulous cooking techniques with fun! I walked away having learned so much about fresh ingredients, the best way to use them and of course a full belly and some new friends.
If you love to cook or want to overcome your fear of the kitchen like I did, I highly recommend the Italian Cooking class. You will leave feeling like you born in an Italian kitchen!”
