10 Simple Ways to Say Thanks

Whether you manage a team of 3 or 300, you know how difficult it can be to keep people engaged. Keeping morale high is always a challenge, especially when budgets are tight.

If you want to keep your best employees onboard and keep them engaged, you need to be a bit creative. Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to thank the members of your team without breaking the bank.

Here are 10 low cost but highly effective ways to thank your team for a job well done.

1. Say Thank You
The value of a heartfelt thank you cannot be overstated, so do not be afraid to tell your best performers when they have done a great job.

2. Company Swag
Everyone loves swag, so hand out some corporate goodies to say thank you. From hats and shirts to mouse pads and whatever else you have in the storage cupboard.

3. Pizza Party
Food is always a powerful motivator, and who doesn’t love pizza? Just ask everyone for their favourites, call in an order to your local pizza place and let your staff have a great time destroying a meatlovers.

4. Get Outdoors
Get some fresh air and spend time outside the office which can be lots of fun, especially if you are still getting paid. Say thanks for a job well done with a day at the local park, a tour of a nearby brewery or a fun morning with some group exercise.

5. Bake Day
Everyone loves to bake so put your office culinary skills to work and create a fun team bake day where everyone brings in a fresh tray of brownies or some cookies with a small prize for first place.

6. Handwritten Notes
In this age of email and instant messaging, a handwritten note says so much. Rewarding employees with a handwritten message will make them – and you – feel great.

7. Staff Breakfast
A hearty breakfast is a great way to start the day so why not cook breakfast for them? It is a great way to show your appreciation and start the day with a belly full of bacon, eggs and whatever else floats your boat.

8. Give a Personalised Gift
For the employee who consistently goes above and beyond, the gift of a favourite bottle of wine or small gift. Just look for something personal, practical and meaningful.

9. Free Day Off
If you have the ability, reward the team with a free day off.  Everyone loves time off, and the hours away could make your staff even more productive.

10. Friday Fun Day
Invite everyone to dress casually every Friday, or let them show off their team spirit with jerseys and other athletic wear. You can also let individuals plan the office playlist each and every Friday for a bit of fun.

Money is not the only way to keep your team motivated. With a little bit of creativity and some simple ideas, you can boost employee morale, reward your best performers and thank everyone for a job well done.
