Board Breaking

Quoting the great Nelson Mandela, ‘everything seems impossible until it’s done’ is certainly the case when we brief the group that in under 2 hours each person will break a wooden board.

There’s no better to kick start your conference, or energise the team after lunch than by teaching everyone some martial arts and self-defence before each person breaks a 1-inch thick wooden board with a single kick.

Our instructor is no slouch.  As the Guinness World Record holder for the most boards broken in 60 seconds, he’ll have teams kicking, punching, clawing and kneeing in no time.

The exercises are moderate with regular breaks to ensure people of all ages and fitness levels can participate. You don’t need a high fitness level to enjoy this experience and get the most out of it.

We start with self defence techniques before progressing to punches and kicks.

Everyone is encouraged to write on their board a goal they want to achieve in the next 6 months and what they see is the biggest obstacle standing in their way.

The culmination of the activity is where each individual harnesses their strength and new skillset, focuses their mind and breaks a board to thunderous applause from the rest of the team.

The session is designed to focus on goal setting, visualisation and gaining inner strength and self-confidence.

Mindfulness is the art of becoming aware of your thoughts of actions. In this case, being mindful can help you identify when negative thoughts concerning your own abilities pop into your head.

Once you become aware of your negative thoughts, you actually have a chance to do something about them. If these thoughts were allowed to continue, it would eventually sap your self-confidence.

This helps people silence their negative inner voice.

When you become mindful, this means that you are living fully in the present moment. Once a negative thought enters your mind, simply stop what you are doing and take a few moments to change your thoughts to more positive ones.

We can deliver this experience in almost any venue.  Whilst it can be done indoors or outdoors, we find inside venues work the best.

Guests are encouraged to take their broken board home or back to the office as a visual reminder of what they can achieve.

You’ve visualised a goal and what challenges you may face, and had self-confidence to attempt and overcome it.

Board Breaking can be held indoors or outdoors in almost any venue.
